Jaisalmer - The Golden City

Jaisalmer, also known as “The Golden City”, is called so because the entire city is built from yellow sand and sandstone. This gives the city a yellow-gold tinge, especially at sunset. Jaisalmer is located in the heart of the Thar desert. The fort that overlooks the city contains the palace and several Jain temples.
